*Lately*

this is what i've been up to:

hitting garage sales with my sis. i found these little doo dads. i think they're japanese buttons. i could be wrong, but i can't wait to scrapbook with them! they're so bright and cheery!

and another find...this precious retro phone. we don't currently have a land line, but it will sit in our kitchen and shine and be beautiful for now.

my brother-in-law and nephew got these for me from the market. a pleasant little Saturday morning surprise. one of the highlights of my day!

making silly faces with this guy. this is just one in a series. : )

having sister time. i seriously love it when we're all together!

laying in the grass and taking pictures of weeds.

trying to be artistic and taking trippy self-portraits.

adding to my collection of grandma-ish things (this pin is another garage sale find). i wore it today and it made me feel pretty. : )

And last, but certainly not least is - (drum roll please).... this beauty. Introducing the newest addition to our apartment. This little chair (you can use the word "grandma" again if you'd like). It's green and it's funky and it's gorgeous. $15 at a garage sale. It sits in the corner of our bedroom and I have to say, we've already gotten acquainted with each other. I can imagine I will spend many mornings cuddling up with her, coffee and book in hand. Chris, not understanding my vintage taste, hauled the heavy thing down our very long apartment building hallway, sat it down examining it and said, "You're lucky you're married to me." : ) Why, yes. Yes I am.

Have a good week!

*art picnic*

today i packed up my art supplies and had a creative picnic. it was so nice outside today i couldn't resist...and i find nature so inspiring. i sprawled out in the grass and doodled, painted, journaled, and read.

so thankful spring is finally here.

and i read this today...(it's by Frederich Buechner in his book "Telling the Truth: The Gospel as Tragedy, Comedy and Fairy Tale."

"It is a world of magic and mystery, of deep darkness and flickering starlight. It is a world where terrible things happen and wonderful things too. It is a world where goodness is pitted against evil, love against hate, order against chaos, in a great struggle where often it is hard to be sure who belongs to which side because appearances are endlessly deceptive. Yet for all its confusion and wildness, it is a world where the battle goes ultimately to the good, who live happily ever after, and where in the long run everybody, good and evil alike, becomes known by his true name...That is the fairy tale of the Gospel, with of course, one crucial difference from all other fairy tales, which is that the claim made for it is true, that if not only happened once upon a time but has kept on happening ever since and is happening still."

Good reminder of how we are involved in something bigger than us. And I love to explore my imagination in that and draw out the pictures in my head and put them on paper ... letting art be an act of worship.

By the way, this guy is my new favorite. Listen to his coffeeshop love song and swoon with me. http://www.myspace.com/landonpiggmusic
